  • polish government has opened a website for ukrainians seeking safety and trying to cross the ukrainian-polish border:

    ua.gov.pl

as of 13:10 polish time, it has been said as many people as possible will be let through the borders. they are also supposed to let through children who do not have passports, as to not divide families.

  • Polish person here, I've been on the website, it looks legit! Adding the full link here:

Information is available in Polish, Ukrainian, Russian and English

    Please get the help available!

    Other people, please boost this!!!!

  • Gov.pl is a legit website connected to the polish government i use it to look at tax info and school stuff (it has the lessons for the teachers written out) and driving license info. So this is legit!!!

  • Ukrainian friends, you can also cross the border to Slovakia, with or without a passport, or at least that's the latest update from our Ministry of Interior. You must prepare yourselves for waiting in lines as they check every individual vehicle upon entering (waiting times according to our news are hours long because of shitty capacities but hopefully after today the officials will figure out a more effective system). If anybody has a link too, I'd be grateful as I haven't found anything useful prior to adding to the post. I hope you all stay safe.

    1. Leave no online footprint of searches or purchases. Digital Defense Fund’s abortion privacy guide is your go-to resource for this. Using private browsers, two-factor authentication, encrypted messaging, strong passwords, etc. is critical. Google searches have been presented as evidence in an SMA trial before. Do not leave a digital trail.
    2. Use the medications properly to prevent interactions with healthcare providers. The pills are very effective, but they have to be used right. Carefully follow the instructions provided on the How to Use Abortion Pill website. Note that misoprostol tablets should always be taken by dissolving them under the tongue. Do NOT insert misoprostol vaginally if you are self-managing an abortion. While this is medically safe, it can leave incriminating pill remnants that can be detected in the vagina during a pelvic exam if you end up needing to seek medical care.
    3. If it’s not an emergency but you need expert health advice, use a free calling service like Google Voice to call or text the Miscarriage + Abortion Hotline at 1-833-246-2632. Medical complications are very uncommon with abortion pills, but they’re not impossible. The M+A Hotline is safe to use and is staffed by trustworthy clinicians who volunteer their time to help those who choose SMA. Do not use your own phone number to call as this will create a record that is visible to your cell service provider.
    4. Don’t disclose any information about SMA to emergency room staff if you do need to seek medical care. This is how most people who are arrested for SMA are reported. Healthcare providers are almost always who calls the police in cases of SMA criminalization. Contrary to popular belief, HIPAA does not protect your private health information from being shared with police if you are suspected of doing something that could be considered a crime. If you believe you need to seek urgent medical care, do not hesitate to go. Say “I think I’m having a miscarriage” and provide your symptoms. Do not mention any use of or purchase of abortion pills. There is no widely available test to detect misoprostol in your bloodstream. If you do not disclose it, there is no way for a medical provider to tell the difference between a medication abortion and a spontaneous miscarriage.
    5. Do not talk to the cops. Period. Do. Not. Talk. To. The. Cops. If you are questioned by police you should state, “I am exercising my right to remain silent, and I wish to speak with an attorney.” Do not speak again or nod in response to a question. Contact the Repro Legal Helpline as soon as possible for expert legal advice: 1-844-868-2812. Do not agree to questioning or speak to any law enforcement official without a lawyer present.

  • US SUICIDE PREVENTION HOTLINE IS CHANGING ITS NUMBER

Taking effect July 2022, the US Suicide Prevention Hotline will change from 800-273-8255 to the three digit code of 988. Especially with families and communities reeling from back to back tragedies, it is super important to share this information!

Repeat: Starting July 2022, the US Suicide Prevention Hotline will be 988

  • Important add-ons, though, as someone who’s done policy work on this:

    • It’s July 16, not just the start of July.
    • 988 can not only be used as the suicide hotline, but for any sort of mental health or substance use crisis situation. As opposed to 911, the goal of 988 is that when dispatch is necessary, you’ll be met with a trained crisis response team rather than the police. The police will only be involved if there is an immediate threat to safety, which has almost never occurred in pilot programs - in one of the most well-known, Denver STAR, (which a lot of y’all seem to be familiar with) the police has actually never been called for backup. We’re hoping that this is going to get more individuals directed towards help rather than a prison cell.

Uhm yeah I’ll add more stuff if I can think of anything.

  • Thank you for the added information. Reblog this version as well, folkz.

  • just wanted to make a general donations post for native americans

and here’s a map of what indigenous land you are living on if you want to donate specific towards those people and tribes 💗

  • niamuck land trust & shinnecock land acquisition and stewardship fund

help support returning land, including burial grounds, to the shinnecock nation

  • I guess it makes sense that people with an all or nothing viewpoint will see incremental change, no matter how significant, as no change at all.

Helping everyone 30% is pointless because 30 always rounds down to 0. Helping millions is pointless if tens of millions are affected.

The people who are hurt while we wait for the perfect solution, who wouldn't be hurt if we solved the problem incrementally? Irrelevant, they're not all the people, so they don't count.

It doesn't matter that we can save some lives and end some suffering, or that it's easier to fix 70% of the problem after we fix 30% of it. 0% or 100% are the only options and if you accept anything less than 100% you are approving of the remaining people not being helped. Anything less than everything rounds down to nothing and it's better to do nothing than to do less than everything.

  • Um also i said i would be taking a backseat but consider donating to these organizations also this indigenous history month because we are quite a small community in comparison to many

This one is for poverty in mi'kmaq communities and their website offers education on the disparity people face when living on the reservations

This one is for disabled mi'kmaq peoples as accessibility is quite difficult when many of us live under the poverty & in incredibly rural areas

This one is for city natives, their goal is to branch into urban areas where our language and culture can be accessed communally

And this month if you see any first nations or i'nuk people posting their information please at least boost. Especially to LGBTQ ntvs. Thank you and happy indigenous history month ❤️
